Features

Automatic light covers
Machines fitted with slurry doors have Automatic Light Covers as standard. A simple mechanism triggered by the slurry door, moves the light cover over the lights as the slurry door begins to open.

Rubber cushion drive coupling
Especially developed to reduce shock loads to the auger drive gearbox, the rubber cushion arrangement located between the output shaft of the auger gearbox and the base of the auger contributes to the reliability and longevity of the machine.

Floor shaft bushes
50mm floor drive shafts rotate through polyester re-inforced composite bushes that contain a solid graphite filler, chosen for their high load applications in a variety of environments they are greasable, further extending their life. Bush highlighted in red.

Floor chains
Grade 80 16mm heavy duty chains are drawn by high tensile sprockets. Sprockets are fitted to the front floor shaft as well as the driven rear shaft, ensuring perfect alignment and timing of the chains, which, in turn makes for a more reliable floor drive. Each chain has 32 tonne breaking load.

Full width floor slats
Full width floor slats clear the whole floor eliminating the possibility of bridging – a problem sometimes encountered with multi slat floor systems. The socket fit design facilitates maintenance, which can be carried out in the field. It also allows the chain to pull straight, should a slat become bent.

Floor drive gearbox
The 500 series floor drive gearbox is fitted to all models with the exception of the Lowlander 60, 80 and 150 (fitted with 350 series and 800 series respectively).
It is hydraulically driven to ensure an even feed of material to the spreading mechanism at all times. With a reverse feature, any foreign object too large to pass through the beaters can be easily removed. An adjustable crossline relief valve also delivers additional protection.

Floor tensioning system
A robust, simple and reliable floor tensioning system ensures floor chain tension can be easily adjusted in order to be kept to its optimum setting. Floor chains are visible from the exterior of the machine making it easy to judge when tensioning is required. Floor shafts are 50mm diameter (60mm on the 150 model), both high tensile.

One piece gearbox
The robust one piece gearbox houses internal gear sets unique to Bunnings in order to ensure that auger speeds are optimised to achieve excellent spread patterns. They are large in diameter with 54mm output shafts manufactured from heat treated steel. The precision machined castings ensure perfect alignment of all the driveline components.

Twin dynamically balanced vertical augers
Twin 690mm diameter dynamically balanced vertical augers have flights laser cut from heat treated Boron steel to improve strength and service life. Reversible Hardened Boron points manufactured using heat treated Boron steel are bolted and supported along the back edge.

RDS GT 400 weigh system
The GT 400 not only displays the live weight in the machine but also allows the operator to add the total weight up by pressing the start/stop button after every load. This simple weigh unit can be fitted through the whole range of Bunning muck spreaders from the 60 to the mammoth 380HD. The system is integrated with the same load cells as used on the popular and proven RDS Apollo psi indicator.

Weigh cells with automatic rate control
The RDS Apollo spreader controller has all the features for today’s farming techniques. Target application rate is entered into the controller which then monitors the load and adjusts the floor speed accordingly. GPS variable rate technology is supplied as standard and the system can receive an application rate from a third party controller such as John Deere Greenstar, Raven or Trimble. Or a predefined application map can be loaded to the SD card and automatically vary the rate (Precision Farming). Data can be logged via the optional printer
or saved to a SD card, which can then be exported to an Excel spreadsheet along with treatment maps. Live weighing is via 20 tonne weigh cells situated on both axle and drawbar. This is then clearly viewed on the controller screen together with your speed, target rate and live application rate. There is a choice of either using the machine in ‘Automatic or Manual Control’ depending on your requirements.

Knut Espen Hystad
Knut Espen Hystad visited the Norwegian Agricultural Machinery show in Lillestrom in November 2009 to find a new manure spreader. Hektner Maskin AS were displaying a Lowlander 105 Compact which met most of Knut Espen’s requirements. “We did not have a spinner deck on the stand” said Hans Christian Hektner “But were able to advise on it’s suitability as we have sold several in the past”. Helping on the stand was Oystein Koht Nordby who runs 2 Bunning Lowlander spreaders, one with a spinner deck, the two were introduced and Oystein was able to help and advise about the attributes of the detachable spinner deck. A deal was struck and the new machine was delivered for spring 2010. Mr Hystad is extremely pleased with his machine, especially the results from spreading Chicken manure which is mostly applied in the Spring before sowing cereal crops. “The large diameter tyres make the machine very easy to pull and do very little damage to the soil, we are able to use our John Deere 6420 which is also light on the soil” said Mr Hystad. The machine is shared with some neighbours and has the spinner deck removed when doing other types of manure.
