Lowlander's the Answer |

September 2008 |
When
searching for a new Manure spreader to replace an ageing
self propelled unit Robert Stimpson of Norfolk based HFS
Agriculture had a good idea what he was looking for. The
machine would have to be trailed so as to free up the power
unit for other jobs, handle all types of manure and Limex,
over a wide width giving an even spread pattern. Its
construction would have to be robust to be able to cope with
a high throughput and foreign objects often found in manure.
Reliability of the machine and its supplier would be
paramount to ensure downtime could be kept to a minimum.
After a great amount of consideration and research Mr
Stimpson chose a Bunning Lowlander 120 with two horizontal
beaters and spinner deck through local dealer Ben Burgess of
Aylsham. “Being close to the Bunning factory meant the
company’s machines had to be considered” said Robert. “I was
particularly impressed by Bunning’s floor chains, they are a
grade 80 heavy duty lifting chain and have only required a
small amount of tensioning after initial settling in”
Since taking delivery of their new Bunning Lowlander in
September 2008, HFS Agriculture have put close on 35,000
tonnes of Manure through the machine. “We have spread Limex
45 and 70, Compost (up to 50 tonnes/hectare), Turkey,
Chicken, cattle and pig manure. The spinning discs allow us
to spread at 12 meter intervals giving a good double overlap
with most products, we use a Raven guidance system to drive
accurately and mark position should the machine empty before
the end of a run” An RDS weigh system on the loader and an
LH Agro monitor in the cab give Mr Stimpson the necessary
information to set the spreader for the required application
rate.
